Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself. A. I write inspirational romantic suspense, and Out of Hiding is my debut. I live in Georgia with my wonderful husband and my amazing furkids—2 dogs and three cats. Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer? A. I’ve always loved reading and writing from a very young age. But not until I was an adult did I write my first novel. Q: Could you give us the highlights of your professional writing career including how you got your first writing break? A. I participated in the Love Inspired Suspense Fast Track competition. It’s a funny story because I almost didn’t enter the contest. I had tons of excuses. But in the end I did, and I am so thankful and blessed. It was a really great contest, and that’s how I sold Out of Hiding. Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Out of Hiding? A: Out of Hiding is the story of private investigator Sadie Lane and FBI agent Kip Moore. Sadie is seeking justice for the murder of her parents. But when she goes undercover with Kip Moore to take down the killer from her past, things really start to get interesting. Q: Where did you get your inspiration for Out of Hiding? A: I can’t say exactly where I got the initial idea, but once I started writing, the book took on a life of its own. Q: What is the main thing you hope readers remember from this story? A: There are a few key messages that resonate for me coming out of this book: faith, forgiveness, and love Q: What is your favorite scene/chapter from the book? A: I love the opening scene because it really gives you a sense of danger that continues throughout the rest of the book. Q: What inspires you to write? A. I have a very active imagination, and I find myself wanting to tell these stories. I also really love to write. It gives me a creative outlet that I don’t have in my day job. Q: How has being a published novelist differed from your expectations of the profession? A: Well since this is my debut, everything is still a bit fresh and new to me. But I don’t think many unpublished writers appreciate all of the marketing and business that goes into being a writer. I do now, but I didn’t before! Q: What advice or tips do you have for writers who are just getting started? A: Never give up! Read, read, read. And surround yourself with supportive people. Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now? A. I’m currently working on a story about a U.S. marshal and a sketch artist. Q: When you’re not writing what do you like to do? A. I love spending time walking my dogs and snuggling with my cats. I also love to sing. Q: Where can readers find you on the internet? A. I love social media. Readers can stop by my webpage at www.racheldylan.com. I’m on Facebook at www.facebook.com/authorracheldylan and Twitter @dylan_rachel Q: Anything else you’d like to tell or share with us? A. I’m very excited to share Out of Hiding with the world. This is a special book to me, and I can’t wait for readers to pick it up. |
