Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself. A. I retired from teaching 5 years ago and I’m now writing full-time. I write contemporary romance and romantic suspense although I have done a few historical romances. I have been married 44 years to my husband, have one son and two granddaughters. Q: What started you on your writing journey? A. I love to make up stories all my life, but in my late twenties because I loved to read, I decided to try putting down one of those stories on paper. That was the beginning and I’ve been doing in over 35 years. Q: What distracts you from writing the easiest? A. Friends and family and an occasional game on my computer. I’ve used playing a game as a reward for making a certain word count. Q: Would you tell us about your current book release To Save Her Child? A. Ella Jackson is the assistant that helps run the Northern Frontier Search and Rescue Organization based out of Anchorage, Alaska. She is a single mom with one young boy who goes missing while at summer camp. She has lived a hard life and has learned to do everything herself, but she must depend on others when searching for her son. Q: Where did the idea for this story come from? A . I don’t know. My ideas just come to me. In this case, I was thinking about different SAR situations for my Alaskan Search and Rescue series. Q: Tell us a little about your main character and how you developed him/her. A. Ella Jackson was trapped in an abusive marriage. She managed to escape and has changed her identity so her ex-husband can’t find her. I take that concept and begin brainstorming with myself and others about how she would be always looking over her shoulder, afraid to trust others because her ex-husband has killed others and she knows he will if he finds her. Q: When the words aren’t flowing—or when you want to celebrate if they are—what is your favorite comfort food and why? A. Ice cream—no particular reason except it tastes good. Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now? A. The fourth book in the Alaskan Search and Rescue series. It is scheduled to come out in December 2015. The third one will be out in September 2015. Q: What kind of books do you enjoy reading? A. Romantic suspense, suspense, thrillers, mysteries and adventures—no wonder I love writing romantic suspense. Q: Has your writing changed your reading habits? If so, how? Writing? A. No, I’ve always loved suspense and romance. Q: Are there things you put off doing because you dread them? A. Housework—dusting. Q: What is your favorite food? A. There are a lot of foods I like. It’s hard to pick just one—I guess shrimp or snow crabs. Q: What makes you smile and/or laugh out loud? A. I’ve discovered the Big Bang Theory while I was on the treadmill and I find myself laughing out loud from their antics on the show. I watch a show while exercising and I hardly think about what I’m doing. The show is a laugh out loud kind. Reminds me of Frasier. Q: If you were an animal, which one would you be, and why? A. Again that is a hard question to narrow down to one animals because I love animals, but if I had to pick I guess a black jaguar—a beautiful animal. Q: Where can readers find you on the internet? A. A. I love hearing from readers. |
