Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself. A: Katy Lee is the author of eight published novels. She writes suspenseful stories that thrill and inspire the reader—from the edge of their seat. A native New Englander, Katy loves to knit warm wooly things. She enjoys traveling the side-roads and exploring the locals’ hideaways. A homeschooling mom of three competitive swimmers, Katy often writes from the stands while cheering them on. Her 2014 book, Grave Danger, received a RITA® and a Daphne du Maurier award nomination. Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer? A: I started writing for publication in 2010. As a child I dreamed of being a writer like the authors of my many favorite books, but I always believed “regular” people couldn’t be writers. Then one day my brother asked me, “why not?” Q: Do you (or did you) have other career aspirations? A: I went into special education and became a teacher. I now homeschool my children who are nearing high school graduation. What will I do next? Hopefully more books. Q: Do you find certain themes reoccurring in your books? If so, what are they and why? If not, what is the theme in your current release? A: Yes, I would say all my books have the theme of victory woven through. Micah 7:8 says, “Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.” I feel that is a scripture that pertains to my life, but also to the lives of my characters. Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Blindsided. A: When race-car track owner Veronica Spencer discovers stolen cars in a garage on her track, she knows she’s been framed. But before Roni can do anything about it, the criminals kidnap her. Undercover FBI agent Ethan Gunn shouldn’t break his cover to protect Roni, but he won’t watch her die, either. Despite his FBI information that says she’s involved in the crime ring, Ethan knows she’s innocent. So he risks it all to help her break free. But now, with killers and the FBI on their trail, Ethan must find a way to keep her safe…and clear her name. A reviewer said this about BLINDSIDED: “A heroine with Ninja James Bond driving skills. Car chases worthy of an action movie. A heroine who knows her own mind and doesn’t back down from a fight. A hero who is sworn to serve and protect and is determined to do so whether the lady is willing or not. Uber bad guys galore and enough suspense and romance to guarantee you’ll devour Blindsided in one fell swoop.” Q: Where did the idea for this story come from? A: The theme of human trafficking has a place in my story. It was a topic I wanted to address and was grateful to my editor who allowed me to. Q: Tell us a little about your main character and how you developed him/her. A: See review above. She is smart, snarky, strong, and was a load of fun to write. Q: Who/what has influenced your writing career the most? A: God. He leads me daily. Without Him my writing falls flat. Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now? A: I have a few things brewing. I’m considering a novella and longer length stories. It will be a busy summer. Q: If you were a dessert, what would it be and why? A: Key Lime Pie. A little sweet and a little tart. Q: Is there something about you most people wouldn’t know? A: My nickname as a child was Scooter. Q: If you could have dinner with 2 people, who would they be? A: Helen Keller and Graham Cooke. Both insightful and life-changing. Q: Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc? A: Scotland. I am Scottish and always wanted to see where my heritage came from. My dad has a genealogy book that goes back to the 1400’s. Would love to see the places the people lived. Q: Where can readers find you on the internet? A: KatyLeeBooks.com has all links to Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads. Q: Anything else you’d like to tell or share with us? A: You can buy Blindsided, book two in the Roads to Danger series wherever books are sold. Book one is called Silent Night Pursuit and book three will release November 1st and is called High Speed Holiday. |
