Q: Please describe your latest book in 25 words or fewer Cassidy McKnight is on a mission when she is kidnapped from an orphanage in the Amazon Jungle. Gabriel Sinclair must face his demons to rescue her. Q: Where did the inspiration for your recent release Lethal Deception come from? I was sitting the Department of Motor Vehicles thinking I would NEVER get out of that “jungle” when I just started brainstorming the first chapter of Lethal Deception. I had a screaming two year old in front of me who became the daughter of missionary friends who needed a guardian. I threw in a few bad guys, a hero to the rescue and a loving God and voila! I know, that’s a really weird way to get a story idea, huh? Q: What do you want your readers to take away from this book? I want my readers to feel touched, to care about the characters and want to know more about them. My main goal is to write a great story, to entertain the reader. But I also want the reader to come away from the story thinking, “Wow! God is awesome!” And possibly wonder if God can really do for him/her what He did for the characters in the story. If that makes someone investigate God, or change a life in a positive way, then I did what I set out to do. Q: Are you an avid reader? What is your favorite book, and why? I am an avid reader. I read voraciously when I’m not writing. I love to read across the board. My favorite book in the genre that I write would have to be a toss-up between anything by Dee Henderson or anything by Brandilyn Collins. They know how to tell a story and weave the faith element in without making you feel like they’re trying to shove God down your throat. But, I also LOVE chick lit. My all time favorite chick lit book is by Allie Pleiter called Queen Esther and the Second Graders of Doom. The heroine was just soooo me. Sorry, it’s just too hard to pick one book. Q: What book are you currently reading? I just finished reading Lee Lofland’s Police Procedure and Investigation A Guide for Writers. An awesome read and a fount of up-to-date information. I read two or three books at the same time, depending on which room of the house I’m in. Q: What are you working on now? I just finished revisions for my third book in the Amazon series and sent those off. That book is called Holiday Illusion and will be out in November 2008. The second book River of Secrets will be out in August 2008. I just sold my fourth to Steeple Hill called A SILENT TERROR and it will be out in March of 2009. I’m also waiting to hear back from Revell on another series idea that won’t fit the Steeple Hill line. I’ll always write for Steeple Hill, though as long as they keep buying. The people there are awesome, so I really hope I can continue to write stuff they want. |
