Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself. A: My first book, Seasons of Love, was published in 2007. I’ve been writing ever since and haven’t looked back. In addition to writing full-time, I have three sons whom I home school, and I help my pastor husband in ministry. Q: What started you on your writing journey? A: I’ve always been a writer but I didn’t seriously start thinking about writing for publication until I was in my early thirties. I had become a stay-at-home for my first child and it seemed like God kept nudging me toward writing for Him. I went back and forth with this for several years until I finally bought Write His Answer, by Marlene Bagnull, hoping I would finally answer the question—Had God called me to write? But I knew the answer to that before I even attended my first writing conference. In January 2001, I joined American Christian Romance Writers (Now, ACFW) and never looked back. Q: What distracts you from writing the easiest? A: Everything! I think social media is the absolute worst. I’m getting better at ignoring Facebook. Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Tailspin? A: Tailspin is the fifth book in my Mountain Cove series set in southeast Alaska. I’m super excited about Tailspin because it’s my bush pilot story. When I started the Mountain Cove series, Will Pierson wasn’t even in my thoughts. But I grew to love him and knew he needed his own story. Plus, readers asked me about the missing Warren siblings and this is her story too! Here’s the blurb: DIVING INTO DANGER Nothing can stop Sylvie Masters from scuba diving to find her mother’s downed plane—except possibly the hit man determined to keep the truth from surfacing. When brave bush pilot Will Pierson comes to her rescue, she knows she can still reach her goal, but she needs his help. Will wants answers about the crash, too, especially since his mother was the missing plane’s pilot. He’ll be the hero Sylvie needs, but can he ever trust her? Sylvie is shrouded in secrets that keep leading her back to Mountain Cove. Secrets someone will kill for. Will may protect her, yet no one can persuade her to end her search…not even a killer. Mountain Cove: In the Alaskan wilderness, love and danger collide. Q: Where did the idea for this story come from? A: Oops. I think I answered this one already! The bush pilot needed his own story. J Q: Tell us a little about your main character and how you developed him/her. A: Sylvie Masters is a skilled diving instructor whose mother’s plane went down in the Inside Passage. After unsuccessful searches were finally called off, she takes it on herself to find her mother’s plane. The complicated thing about Sylvie is that she is also the lost Warren sibling—she knows about her half-siblings, but has never met them, and it’s quite intimidating. Q: When the words aren’t flowing—or when you want to celebrate if they are—what is your favorite comfort food and why? A: Oh gosh. I love all the bad stuff. Pizza and Nachos. But hey, chocolate works every time. Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now? A: I’m finishing up the second book in a new series called Wilderness, Inc. set in southwest Oregon near the Wild Rogue Wilderness. I love action and adventure romantic suspense stories! Q: What kind of books do you enjoy reading? A: Right now I’m super into James Rollins thrillers. Love romantic suspense, of course. Q: Has your writing changed your reading habits? If so, how? Writing? A: Yes. I think I read MORE now that I’m writing. I probably read more widely. Q: Are there things you put off doing because you dread them? A: Many, many things. We won’t go into those here. J Q: What is your favorite food? A: Um. I said pizza up earlier. It’s my comfort food because it’s my favorite. Q: What makes you smile and/or laugh out loud? A: My sons are amateur comedians and make me laugh all the time. Q: If you were an animal, which one would you be, and why? A: An eagle. I’d absolutely love to fly. Q: Where can readers find you on the internet? A: Website – http://Elizabethgoddard.com Facebook – http://facebook.com/elizabethgoddardauthor Twitter – http://twitter.com/bethgoddard Pinterest – https://www.pinterest.com/bethrachg/ Q: Anything else you’d like to tell or share with us? A: Yes. I love to hear from my readers so please connect with me. If you’d like to receive updates or book news, be sure to sign up for my newsletter on my website. |
