Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself. A: I have lived in the Pacific NW all of my life. Books have been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. My grandma used take me to the bookstore in the mall and allow me to pick out a picture book—I think that fostered my love for books. My favorite genre to read is romantic suspense. Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer? A: Approximately eleven years ago. Q: Could you give us the highlights of your professional writing career including how you got your first writing break? A: After studying the craft of writing for six years I received my first contract from Love Inspired Heartsong Presents. I was ready to give up writing if that manuscript didn’t sell. I’m so thankful it did! That line went on to purchase a total of five books from me before Harlequin closed the line. I currently write for a small press. I have two series with this company. The first is my Wildflower B&B Romance series and the second is my Sunriver Dreams series. Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Designing Love? A: Designing love is the third and final book in my Sunriver Dreams series. Although it is a romance, there is a strong mystery thread. Here is the back cover copy. Someone is framing Sierra. Can Spencer Preston discover the true criminal before he loses her? Sierra Robbins, single mother and interior design assistant, wants to provide a stable home for her teenage son and become a successful interior designer. She’s well on her way to both goals when she agrees to house sit a home in Sunriver, Oregon. It couldn’t be more perfect. She’ll be close to her job at Belafonte Designs while living rent-free. But things don’t go as expected beginning on day one when a police officer responds to the alarm they set off at the house. Was that alarm a sign of trouble to come? Spencer Preston, lives for his job as a police officer in Sunriver, but when he responds to a house alarm and finds Sierra and her son there everything changes. Suddenly he finds himself torn between the upholding the law and protecting the woman he believes is innocent. Q: Where did you get your inspiration for Designing Love? A: Since this is the third book in the series the inspiration came from the second book in the series. We first meet Sierra in A Christmas Homecoming. I knew she needed her own story and went with it. J Q: What is the main thing you hope readers remember from this story? A: I hope they are entertained and that the characters stick with them. I don’t deliberately write in a spiritual theme, but looking back on the story I see that the theme of trusting the Lord developed. Q: What inspires you to write? A: I’m not exactly sure, but when a story is alive in my mind I have an urgency to write, and I’m not content until I do. Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now? A: Sure. Thanks for asking. My current work in progress will release in October, if not sooner. I normally set my stories in small towns, but my next series will take place in Seattle. It’s about a man who must marry before his twenty-eighth birthday or lose everything he’s been working for and cares about. This is one of those stories that got in my head and wouldn’t let go. I love the stories that make me feel something. Q: When you’re not writing what do you like to do? A: Read, walk my dog, have coffee with friends, and travel—although I don’t get to do much traveling. |
