Gayla K. Hiss interview with Susan Sleeman

Q: How long have you been writing and what other careers or jobs have you had? Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Dangerous Ground? There is also has an underlying theme involving the land. Tyler’s Glen is a fictional farming community near Cades Cove, an actual historic settlement in the national park. Grace Holbrook is an interesting character who lives in an old farmhouse and raises chickens and sharecrops her land like my grandparents did in rural Kentucky. When I was growing up, I spent quite a bit of time with my grandparents on their farm, and I drew from those cherished experiences in creating the rural setting for the town of Tyler’s Glen. Q: What is the main thing you hope readers remember from this story? Q: How do you choose your settings for your books? Q: Do you base your characters on people you know or are they totally made up? Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now? Q: If money were no object what vacation would you like to take and why? Q: What is the silliest thing you have ever done? Q: What is the hardest thing you have ever done? |

Gayla’s writing journey began with her hobby painting landscapes. In her imagination, characters and scenes came to life as she painted beautiful natural settings. Her inspiring novels combine her love for the great outdoors with romance, suspense, and mystery. Gayla and her husband often tour the country in their RV, visiting many state and national parks. She enjoys hiking, camping, and traveling, and lives in the Pacific Northwest. She’s excited to announce the release of WILDFIRE, book 3 in her Peril in the Park series, which can be purchased on Amazon at: https://amzn.to/2KhK7Ec.
