Heather Woodhaven Interview

Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself.

A:  I hope to please the Lord while being a wife, mother, novelist, and magnet for embarrassing moments. Also, I love the Oxford comma even though I don’t get to use it in my Love Inspired books. J

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

A:  As a third-grader, I discovered I loved stories that made me laugh. If I heard a joke, I would start imagining the story behind it and started writing on a typewriter in my dad’s office.

Q: Do you find certain themes reoccurring in your books? If so, what are they and why? If not, what is the theme in your current release?

A:  I find a recurring theme of God using our passions, goals, and dreams in ways we never expect. Oftentimes, it’s a painful process to get to that place.

Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Credible Threat?

A: Someone wants auditor Rebecca Linn—the granddaughter of a federal judge—dead, and it’s Deputy US Marshal Kurt Brock’s duty to figure out why and protect her. But her powerful family insists Kurt keep his relationship with Rebecca strictly professional…no matter how much he’s drawn to the feisty, fast-thinking beauty.

Q: Where did the idea for this story come from?

A:  There’s a federal courthouse in the beautiful resort town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I was surprised to find how just how many death threats federal judges receive each year, and I wondered what it would be like growing up as a granddaughter to a federal judge.

Q: Who/what has influenced your writing career the most?

A:  A community of people. My parents and husband are tireless in their encouragement, and my local writing group pushed me toward the opportunities to make it happen.

Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now?

A:  I just sent in my manuscript for the sequel to Credible Threat. A deputy marshal is transferred back to her hometown in Iowa where she’ll deal with a very personal secret.

Q: If you were a dessert, what would it be and why?

A:  Snickers. I can seem smooth from the outside, but really I’m quite nutty and messy on the inside. Plus, I go really well with copious amounts of coffee.

Q: Is there something about you most people wouldn’t know?

A:  Despite having earned a pilot’s license at a young age, I’m now scared of heights.

Q: Is there a place you have always wanted to visit? A vacation spot, historical monument, overseas, etc?

A:  A tour of Europe, the setting of so many beloved novels.
