Q: Can you please provide a brief description of your newest novel, The Chase? A: US Marshals Madison and Jonas are once again chasing down dangerous fugitives, this time a group wanted for a string of bank robberies across the state. The hunt will lead them from Seattle to the beautiful San Juan Islands, where they will have to fight for their own lives as they work together to bring the fugitives to justice. The Chase is the second book in your US Marshals series. A: While each book follows a different, high-intensity fugitive search, there is an overall arch dealing with the search for the person who killed Madison’s husband. And as Jonas helps her with this very personal pursuit, he finds himself falling for her. Q: Can you tell us about your main characters, US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn? A: These character have been so much fun to write! They are both dedicated to their jobs, focused on bringing down the bad guys, and willing to put their own lives at risk in the process. I love the changes in their relationship when they start realizing—separately at first—that there might be something deeper than just friendship growing between them. Madison and Jonas are partners, but they have a complicated relationship. Q: Without giving away any spoilers, what can you tell us about this relationship? A: Madison and Jonas met years ago during a training class where they briefly connected. Jonas was not only impressed with her skills but also interested in a personal level. Madison, though, had recently lost her husband and wasn’t in a place to consider a relationship. Now a few years later, Madison is still waiting for closure over her husband’s murder, but is ready now, she thinks, to open her heart. Until she starts to believe that loving Jonas could put his life at risk. Q: What is the setting for your series and why did you choose this location? A: I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and wanted to set a series there. It’s such a beautiful place, and all the wilderness and forests make the perfect setting for a suspense novel! Q: Did anything surprise you as you wrote this book? A: Even though I grew up in the PNW, I discovered through my research a number of different locations that I now really want to visit. A couple years ago we took a ferry through the San Juan Islands to Canada, but after the research I’ve done, I’d love to stop and spend time there. Q: What do you hope readers will gain from your book? A: I hope that they not only love the adventure but also take with them the spiritual truth that no matter what happens around us, God is in control. Nothing surprises him. He simply wants us to trust him through the journey, even in the midst of a struggle. Q: What are you working on next? Q: How can readers connect with you?
