Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself. A: I live in the south with my husband of 22 years, our daughter who is leaving for college in the fall and our 13 year old son. I love the outdoors, mostly from the view of a porch, trying new things—after my husband does it first and makes sure it’s safe, and thrift shopping. Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer? A: I’ve always loved storytelling but it wasn’t until 2008 when I felt the urge to actually write a book. Q: What do you write and why this genre? A: I write romantic suspense because I love adventure, puzzling out villainous minds, showing respect and honor to our branches of law enforcement and I love to bring hope to readers by showing how good can always come of tragic and horrific events. I also write contemporary romance because I love romance. Pretty easy answer. Q: Do you base your characters on people you know or are they totally made up? A: While I am making them up, I think traits from people I know and respect (or don’t lol) show up indirectly. But I admit that I have based a few characters off of people I know. Q: Would you tell us about your current book release Deep Waters? A: Deep Waters is the first in The Security Specialists series and it kicks off with Shepherd Lightman, a former marine turned security expert checking in on his boss’s sister after a death is ruled accident. They’ll soon find out, it wasn’t. Caley is a marine-life vet in fictional Turtle Bay Florida. She likes a quiet life but when she’s targeted next, there’s nothing quiet about it. Q: Where did the idea for this story come from? A: My niece has always loved sea turtles and ever since I started writing has asked me to write about book with them. So I chose a character who worked with sea turtles and the rest just rolled on from there. Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now? A: I am now working on the 3rd book in this series Deadly Obsession. The owner of the security company, Wilder Flynn, is finally getting his story! It’s going to be a wild ride (pardon the pun or don’t)! Q: Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers. A: 1. When I read for enjoyment one of my go-to genres is Young Adult. 2. I’m scared of open heights so when I have to write a scene that includes one, I get the shivers. 3. As much as I love suspense, I’m a girlie-girl at heart and my office is pink and gray. I just love girlie stuff! Q: Milk or dark chocolate? Coffee or tea? A: Dark chocolate for sure and I love both coffee and tea. I typically have my java in the morning and my tea (English style) in the afternoon. Q: Favorite TV show or shows? A: I love TV. I probably watch way too much, especially with Netflix. I don’t know if I can give a favorite but right now I’m binge-watching Call the Midwife and Last Man Standing. I’m loving them both. |
