Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself? A: Well, HI! *Waves* I’m Lisa Phillips. I’ve written a lot of novels in the last 3 years that I’ve been published, and Security Detail is my anniversary book. I live in Idaho with my husband, two kids (9 and 6) and we’re the worship ministry leaders at our church, so I do a lot of singing and guitar playing when I’m not at my computer. Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer? A: I’m a late bloomer, because I didn’t know I was even good at writing necessarily until I was an adult. After I got married I tried for the first time writing novels, and took a writing course. It was my third book that got a contract – my Love Inspired Suspense DOUBLE AGENT. Q: What do you write and why this genre? A: Primarily romantic suspense, although I have written some stories that were just romance. I love the suspense element the most though, because the surprise and tension of danger really drives you through the pages. If I can keep the reader flipping well in to the wee hours of the morning, then I’ve done my job. Q: Do you base your characters on people you know or are they totally made up? A: I think I’d be too scared to use people I know, in case they figured it out! But I think there’s an element of some people in the characters I write. I draw from real life, real conflict, real emotions. Otherwise the people in my novels would feel made-up, and hard go relate to. Q: Would you tell us about your current book release SECURITY DETAIL? A: Security Detail is the first in my LIS miniseries Secret Service Agents. It’s about the daughter of a former president, who spent her teen years in the White House and is now a small town lawyer. The hero is an undercover Secret Service agent investigating money laundering in the same town. Q: Where did the idea for this story come from? A: I’ve wanted to write about Secret Service agents for a while now, and a story about someone who grew up in the White House was fascinating to research. Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now? A: Right now I’m about to start book 3 in my Secret Service agents series, YULETIDE SUSPECT which comes out in November and is a holiday story. Book 2 will be out in August, and is called Homefront Defenders. It’s about two Secret Service agents in Hawaii. I’m really enjoying this series! Q: Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
Q: Milk or dark chocolate? Coffee or tea? A: Milk chocolate for sure! And being British I do love my PG Tips, but I also love my morning coffee. Q: Favorite TV show or shows? A: That’s a tough one! I loved Leverage, Arrow and Flash, but my favorite is probably Hawaii 5-0. |

A British ex-pat who grew up an hour outside of London, Lisa attended Calvary Chapel Bible College where she met her husband. He’s from California, but nobody’s perfect. It wasn’t until her Bible College graduation that she figured out she was a writer (someone told her). Since then she’s discovered a penchant for high-stakes stories of mayhem and disaster where you can find made-for-each-other love that always ends in happily ever after.
Lisa can be found in Idaho wearing either flip-flops or cowgirl boots, depending on the season. She leads worship with her husband at their local church. Together they have two children–a sparkly Little Princess and a Mini Daddy–and an all-black Airedale known as The Dark Lord Elevator.
