Died in the Wool, the second book in Ludwig and Mowery’s Massachusetts Mayhem Mystery series, features Monah Trenary, the town librarian who battles for city funds needed by her beloved library. But she’s not the only person in town wanting money. When one of her rivals winds up dead, Monah not only finds the body, but soon becomes a prime suspect in the murder as well.
When a second person is killed, police detective Mike Brockman must include Monah in his suspect list even if he’s interested in her. Hoping to rectify the situation, Monah, with the help of her friend Casey Alexander, search for the killer and Monah soon finds herself in the killer’s path.
Though there is much more to this plot, lots of unexpected turns and surprises, I’ll stop right here before I inadvertently give a piece of the plot away. But, trust me, you’ll want to read every word of the book to see all the surprises the Ludwig and Mowery writing duo have included in Died in the Wool.
Died in the Wool is another solid cozy mystery by this duo and a great cozy to curl up with for a light and entertaining read. The characters are interesting, believable, and people you can care for. Their faith is realistic and not preachy. The romance sweet and enjoyable. The writing is tight, crisp and fast moving. And they keep you guessing right up to the very end about the killer’s identity.
