Cici Wilde owns a vintage clothing company and her sales really take off during the reenactment as everyone wants to wear historic clothes. She closes the shop when the reenactment of the shooting occurs, and is stunned, when instead of one man falling during the gun fight, two men fall, one dead.
Suspicion falls on Cici’s sister who loaded the guns with blanks, and on a childhood friend of CiCi’s who everyone suspects must have fired the killing shot. But Cici knows her sister and friend and is determined to find the real killer?
GUNFIGHT AT GRACE GULCH is a cute cozy mystery, set within the confines of a theatre presentation on the historic events of their small Oklahoma town. Each chapter starts out with a letter from the original “Grace” family member in the land run to his fianc?e, and then moves on to the more contemporary reenactment that ties the letter in. The real land run in Oklahoma’s history is definitely an important aspect of this story.
I can’t say the characters are really well developed, as I never did relate to Cici or the secondary characters the way I would have liked. The faith message is good, not preachy. However, the writing is tight, and the story line and setting are interesting.
If you would like to read this, or any of the other cozy mysteries coming out, be sure to join the Heartsong Presents Mysteries reader’s club, and the books will be sent hot off the press. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait a couple months for them to be available retail. I’ve read four of the cozies so far, and this is a club you’ll want to join.
