That’s me every time I pick up a suspense novel by author Steven James.
Why? Because he causes me to break out in “just one more chapter-itis”, that’s why! When it comes to criminal suspense, Steven James always delivers!
“The Knight” is the third installment in The Bowers Files, and Special Agent Patrick Bowers is on the hunt for another serial killer. One that takes him from the emptiness of the Rocky Mountains to the courtrooms of Chicago. Tracking this killer takes every resource Special Agent Bowers has.
Or…is the killer tracking him?
With more complications to his romantic life, more dilemmas with his step-daughter Tessa and a more vicious predator than he’s ever seen (or that I’ve ever seen…I mean, WOW!), can Special Agent Bowers catch this one in time?
Or can you stand the suspense found on every page? Steven’s novels are not for the faint of heart. However, they DO prove my point…even the grittiest suspense doesn’t need to delve into the ‘ick’ to please the readers.
In fact, with most of Steven’s writing, he leads you to the precipice of seeing and then lets your imagination take you the rest of the way. And with a vivid imagination…my, oh, my! The stories he’ll tell you!
But be warned: he does go to some of the darkest places to catch the darkest killers. Question is, does Patrick Bowers always get his man…or does his man sometimes get him?
Don’t miss out on “The Pawn” and “The Rook”, both previous novels in ‘The Bowers Files’. I can barely wait for “The Bishop”, but I cannot tell you why…just that I’m surprised you couldn’t hear me screaming as I closed the final page.
I’ll give “The Knight” five out of five bookmarks, with a GPS as a charm. You’ll need one to keep up with the action in this book.
