Though this is the third book in the series it is a stand-alone story. The only connection is that some of the main characters from the earlier books are secondary ones in this one.
Susan Sleeman is a master at creating her characters. Becca Lange and Connor Warren are incredibly well developed. It was easy to understand what made them tick as their pasts were slowly, but completely, spelled out. She did a marvelous job of delving into the villain’s psyche without including graphic violence.
The progression of the investigation was fantastic. It started very slowly with a few different cases being mentioned and both Becca and Connor trying to figure out what was the most important one to work on. Then as more information was discovered their priorities had to be adjusted. They were both trying to balance all of this even while trying to figure out their attraction to each other. It’s always nice to throw a little romance in with the suspense.
With Becca being the third agent on the cyber-crime team it looks like this series is done. I’d really like to see it continue though since they have all been wonderful books. Since a rookie agent was introduced in this book though I have hopes that the series will go on.
