Janice Cantore in her new book, "Drawing Fire" Book One in the Cold Case Justice series published by Tyndale House Publishers introduces us to homicide detective Abby Hart.
From the Back Cover: One case from her past defines homicide detective Abby Hart.
With a possible serial killer stalking elderly women in Long Beach, California, homicide detective Abby Hart's best lead is Luke Murphy, an irritating private investigator who saw a suspect flee the scene of the latest homicide. But as she works with the handsome PI to unravel the serial killer case, she must also confront the spark between them. When Abby discovers that the most recent victim is related to the governor, she's anxious to talk to him about a cold case that's personal to her, one Luke is interested in as well.
As she learns more about the restaurant fire that took her parents' lives years ago, Abby discovers why Luke is so invested in finding the ones responsible. With everyone else telling her to walk away from this case, Abby and Luke search for evidence buried beneath years of deceit . . . and soon realize that someone will do anything to make sure this case remains cold.
There is something about a cold case that has a fascination for me. I mean an event happened, it was investigated, due to events at that time it wasn't solved. Just think if this case could not be solved at the time of the investigation how much harder is it going to be years later. Abby Hart is trying to investigate a current murder but it seems to have ties to a cold case that is important to her. Not only that but she has to get involved with the P.I. Luke Murphy. "Drawing Fire" is how you define exciting! If anyone can write these kind of stories with authenticity and sheer excitement Ms. Cantore most certainly can. "Drawing Fire" is a thriller with all kinds of excitement and danger. I am sure you will not see what is going to happen until they are unfolding before you. Janice Cantore knows how to weave a captivating story with wonderful characters that breathe. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next book in this exciting series.
