From the back cover:
A search for missing women leads to a deadly pursuit.
When domestic violence counselor Dulcie Parker uncovers evidence of a human trafficking ring in the Four Corners area, she’s determined to stop it or die trying. With corruption all around her and killers on her trail, Deputy Sheriff Austin Turner’s the only one she can trust. But can they work together to expose the crime ring before she becomes the next victim?
My thoughts: Vanished in the Mountains is a new release. Those who love romantic suspense will love this book with its unique setting and plot.
Yes, it is formula LIS. Yes, it is predicable. It also starts very slow, with tons of backstory, which is kind of skim-worthy, but necessary information.
I did not like that Austin was portrayed as a liar and a disobedient employee almost immediately. In fact, both main characters had an uphill battle to win my care...and they really never succeeded.
There were a few unexpected twists. I loved the faith message. The romance is strong and sweet, and the way she made the setting come alive was amazing
