From the back cover: Desperate times create desperate people. And desperate people are dangerous . . .
Though Emily Hunt comes from a family of cops, the relatively quiet life of a high school teacher suits her just fine. She’s saving up to buy a house, slowly moving forward after her brother’s death, and settling into a life she loves. So the last person she wants to spend time with is Mason Taylor.
An undercover cop, Mason is enemy number one as far as her family is concerned. His involvement in the death of Emily’s brother is still up in the air, and now he expects her to help him with a case. Mason has been working with one of her students, Rafael Cerda, whose brother has been kidnapped by a drug cartel. And with time running out to meet their demands, Rafael is getting desperate.
Emily will have to draw on all of her strength to handle what happens next . . .
Fatal Exchange will draw you into a complex matrix of intertwining lives, unraveling secrets, and unexpected love.
Better breathe deep and fill your lungs now because you won’t be able to catch your breath once you start “Fatal Exchange”. Murder, school shootings, kidnapping, drugs and drug lords are just some of the ingredients in this high-octane adventure but it is not all of them. With “Fatal Exchange” Ms. Harris has given us a thriller that becomes more and more exciting until the last hundred pages which is an extremely wild ride. What Ms. Harris does to us as readers with this book is to take us on twists, turns, upside down loops and drops until you cannot take it anymore but that is where she skillfully brings the book to an end. Emily, Mason and all of the rest of the characters are so well written you begin to think that you have known them all your life and you certainly want them to succeed. This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Ms. Harris is an excellent writer and knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense.
