From the back cover: The isolated town of Beldon, Wisconsin, is shocked when a high school freshman’s body is found in Lake Algonquin. Just like everyone in the community, sixteen-year-old Daniel Byers believes that Emily Jackson’s death was accidental. But at her funeral, when he has a terrifying vision of her, his world begins to rip apart at the seams.
Convinced that Emily’s appearance was more than just a mere hallucination, Daniel begins to look carefully into her death, even as he increasingly loses the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality.
What’s real? What’s not? Where does reality end and madness begin?
As Daniel struggles to find the truth, his world begins to crumble around him as he slips further and further into his own private blurred reality.
Full of mind-bending twists and turns, Blur launches a new trilogy of young adult thrillers from Steven James, a master of suspense.
When you receive a new Steven James thriller here is the checklist to do before you start reading. Turn off the computer and the phone, make yourself a large hot chocolate, or beverage of your choice, have your snacks handy and settle into your reading chair comfortably because you are going to be there for a while and not want to move until you finish reading. With “Blur” Mr. James gives us a YA thriller that races along at lightening speed. It begins with a drowning death that may not be accidental like almost everyone believes. Daniel keeps seeing visions of Emily and she is telling him otherwise. Now, with a little help, Daniel is on a quest to find the truth without winding up dead. Mr. James has given us great characters that we look forward to revisiting with the rest of the trilogy. Mr. James grabs a hold of your nerves and squeezes until you think you can’t be squeezed anymore and then he squeezes those nerves some more. What more can we ask for? “Blur” gives us much, much more. Mr. James takes us on a ride that leaves us breathless but extremely satisfied. Sort of like the way you feel after a roller coaster ride. I liked this book and recommend it highly!
