From the back cover: They both wanted quieter, safer lives.
But crime never sleeps . . .
and killers keep killing.
After years as a Chicago homicide detective, Lisa Grant is ready for the kinder, gentler life of a small-town police chief. But the discovery of a human skeleton by a construction crew at the edge of town taxes department resources. Enter ex-Navy SEAL Mac McGregor, the detective sent by the county to assist on the case. As they work to solve the mystery behind the unmarked grave, danger begins to shadow them. Someone doesn’t want this dead person telling any tales–and will stop at nothing to make certain a life-shattering secret stays buried.
I am always thrilled when I see Irene Hannon’s name on a book because I know, without exception, that I am in for a very exciting read. Twenty-four years ago a murder was committed but all anyone knows is that the woman went missing. Now with the aid of current computer technology they have identified her remains. Police Chief Lisa and County Detective Mac have to figure out the mystery behind the unmarked grave. The murderer, of course, does not want them to succeed and will stop at nothing to prevent them. It is going to take both of them to protect each other and finally uncover the truth. I like Lisa and Mac and their budding romance. With “Buried Secrets” Ms. Hannon has given us a thriller that becomes more and more exciting until the last hundred pages which is an extremely wild ride. This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Ms. Hannon is an excellent writer and knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense. I recommend this book, and everything else that Ms. Hannon has written, highly!!
