Krista Curry takes her elderly grandfather to a Portland Timbers match and the last thing she expects is to run into a bomber. But when a suspicious man leaves a backpack in the seat next to her and doesn’t return for it, she alerts First Response Squad bomb expert Deputy Cash Dixon.
When the local news reports Krista can identify the bomber, Cash fears the bomber has seen her on the news and he’d do just about anything to silence her as confirmed by an attempt to abduct her from her home that very night. Cash vows to protect Krista, but she’s running from a past secret and despite her attraction to Cash, she doesn’t want anything to do with him. When it becomes clear that he’s the only one who can keep her safe, will she let him into her life before everything explodes around her?
Explosive Alliance Review:
Another great action packed story from Susan Sleeman. She truly helped us feel the distrust that Krista felt for police and men in general. I also really could feel the hurt and confusion of Cash, as he too dealt with his own issues. I always try to figure out whodunnit, and I was on the right track with my thoughts, so I felt good when the ending played out so dramatically. Truthfully, as much as I love the First Responder Team, it is always those side characters who are my favorite. I loved Opa, (Otto) Krista’s grandfather, his peace, and faith were huge factors in this story. I love Susan’s books and this one is no exception.
