Review – Act of Valor

A True Blue K-9 story …When airline employee Violet Griffin encounters several suspicious passengers, she’s thrust into the crosshairs of a drug smuggling operation. NYPD officer Zach Jameson and his drug detection beagle, Eddie, can tell this is no small-time threat. Someone’s gunning for Violet, and after recently losing his brother, Zach refuses to lose her, too…especially now that she’s gone from friend to the woman he’s falling for

My thoughts:

ACT OF VALOR is part of the True Blue K-9 Unit series written by different authors and all stand-alone although they involve some of the same characters and possibly a continuing suspense theme (though that is not a given, I haven’t read the others in the series).

Dana Mentink is one of the top ten writers for this romantic suspense line and I love how even the dog has a personality and reacts to events.

Formula Love Inspired Suspense, the attacks happen immediately, and the bad guys know everything, including cell  phone numbers, home addresses, where and what characters might go or do if they deviate from normal, etc.  The bad guy even seems to  know when the hero is in the shower! Reality is suspended somewhat, but it is certainly an edge of the seat read as the reader doesn’t know when the next strike will be or even how the bad guy will get caught — or even who exactly is all involved.

Violet is a  very strong heroine, even abrasive at times. Zach is  hurting over a death of his brother that he feels responsible for.  It gave him a weakness that he couldn’t seem to shake.

Fans of Romantic Suspense will want to grab a  copy of ACT OF VALOR. I liked that this one started at an airport security checkpoint. It gave it a unique feel right from the start.
