Audrey’s husband lost his job as a pastor because of the accusations of Jack Mansfield. The couple bought a bakery and ran that after they were thrown from the church. One the way to work one morning, Audrey had an accident with a scooter which belonged to none other than Jake’s wife. This sends Jack on a rage to make sure everyone was justly dealt with. Jake was just insane, one of these people who think they are totally right in everything, including following the Lord, but trying to judge the sins of others himself. He ended up taking several people hostage in the bakery and giving Audrey a few hours to find is wife, who disappeared after the accident, so they thought.
A couple of things left me wondering, like was Audrey’s feelings suppose to be some super-natural thing or was she spirit filled? Though I don’t really think actually knowing what someone else is thinking would be a spirit-filled Christian. I just found that kind of weird in a Christian fiction. Also, it seemed there were several loose ends about the characters when the story finished, but then maybe there will be a book two to fill those in. I certainly hope so.
Overall, this was a fantastic book weaved together with characters that were likeable and interesting and living out the thrills, mystery and suspense of this story. The plot was pretty easy to guess, though there were a few surprises for me as the story was played out. I read this book in one day, I just couldn’t put it down.
This was my first book of Erin Healy’s and I will definitely be watching for her next book! If you like mystery and thrillers, you will enjoy this book. Grab a copy and enjoy!
