Review – The Accused

Officer Carly Edwards is not happy about working in juvenile, but doesn’t have a choice after the shooting incident involving her. Now someone has shot the mayor and even though Carly was allowed to interrogate teenager Londy Atkins because of his involvement, that is all she is allowed to do before she is taken off the case. Carly decides to take the law into her own hands, and though she is warned several times, she doesn’t listen and is finally taken off the force.

Well, this still doesn’t take her totally off the case because she decides to strike out on her own, causing more intense dangers because of information she helps uncover. Throughout all of this action, Carly’s mom, Londy’s mom and even Carly’s ex-husband Nick are have given their lives to Christ, and this caused Carly much confusion and difficulty because she just didn’t believe all of the God stuff they were talking about. When evidence starts coming together and questions are being answered, things get pretty interesting as Carly really starts to think about her relationship with God. Maybe Nick and her mom have a special relationship with the Lord after all.

Since this was my first book by this author, I didn’t know what to expect. Well now I know, this book was awesome! The characters were well thought out and created and it was enjoyable getting to know them in this story. The author weaves the characters beautifully together with the thrills, mystery, and drama of this story, making it a delight to read. I appreciate the way the author presents God and the Gospel throughout the book through the faith of some of the characters. And also the way Carly’s character struggles with faith in the Lord before she gives her life to Him. This is just what happens to people in today’s world.

I highly recommend this book to those who like thrillers, suspense and mystery with some romance to go with it! You will not be disappointed in this book or Janice Cantore.
