Book Description:
A sabotaged plane. Two dead deep-water divers.
Yancey, Alaska was a quiet town…until the truth of what was hidden in the depths off the coast began to appear.
Bailey Craig vowed never to set foot in Yancey again. She has a past, and a reputation–and Yancey’s a small town. She’s returned to bury a loved one killed in the plane crash and is determined not to stay even an hour more than necessary. But then dark evidence emerges and Bailey’s own expertise becomes invaluable for the case.
Cole McKenna can handle the deep-sea dives and helping the police recover evidence. He can even handle the fact that a murderer has settled in his town and doesn’t appear to be moving on. But dealing with the reality of Bailey’s reappearance is a tougher challenge. She broke his heart, but she is not the same girl who left Yancey. He let her down, but he’s not the same guy she left behind. Can they move beyond the hurts of their pasts and find a future together?
Could anyone read this back cover copy and not pick up Submerged by Dani Pettrey? I couldn’t and am happy to report the book is a fast moving, action packed adventure in Alaska that finds two people smack dab in the middle of a murder mystery at the same time as they reconnect and remember all the reasons they’d once loved each other.
Submerged is author Dani Pettrey’s first book and I thoroughly enjoyed her fresh and unique voice. Since I am in the middle of writing a series about five siblings, I especially enjoyed seeing the interaction between the McKenna siblings. I loved the family dynamics that often contained humor and am eager to read about the other siblings in future books. The conflict between the hero and heroine was powerful and engaging. The plot was intriguing, boasting a great mystery that kept me reading. And of course, the way Pettrey described the Alaskan scenery made everything so vivid and real. So do yourself a favor and pick up this excellent romantic suspense book. You’ll be glad you did.
