Q: Let me start with asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
Q: What started you on your writing journey? A: I’ve always wanted to be a writer. I told myself stories as a child as a way to entertain myself. Q: What distracts you from writing the easiest? A: My family. If they’re home, I want to be with them not sequestered in my office. Q: Would you tell us about your current book release DUTY BOUND GUARDIAN? A: This is the second book in the Capitol K-9 Unit continuity from Love Inspired Suspense, featuring the men and women of an elite K-9 unit in the nation’s capitol. Q: Where did the idea for this story come from? A: Continuities are editorial driven, meaning the editors come up with the concepts, characters, setting and over arching plots, then the authors take all that information and piece it together to make a compelling story. I find writing these book both challenging and rewarding. Q: Tell us a little about your main character and how you developed him/her. A: The story is about an art curator who is suspected of stealing a rare artifact. For Lana’s character I gave her a tragic backstory that impacts her present life and her future. Q: When the words aren’t flowing—or when you want to celebrate if they are—what is your favorite comfort food and why? A: Hmmm, that’s a tough one. I don’t really a have ‘go to’ food. I find if the words aren’t flowing, that if I go make myself a cup of coffee or tea, it gives my hands something to do and frees my mind to work out whatever is stopping the flow. Q: Would you share with us what you are working on now? A: I’m working on two books right now: I’m writing the fourth book in my Northern Border Patrol series and starting the first book in a new continuity series featuring a Rookie K-9 Unit in Arizona. Q: What kind of books do you enjoy reading? A: I love to read historicals, thrillers, contemporary romances and sci-fi. Q: Has your writing changed your reading habits? If so, how? Writing? A: Yes! I don’t have time to read the way I used to before becoming a working writer. Though I do read every night for at least fifteen minutes so it takes me a long time to get through a book now. I also find my own writing is influenced by what I read, meaning when I read a historical, my writing start sounding historical. So I only read historicals now when I’m between contracts. Q: What is your favorite food? A: I don’t know that I have a favorite food. I enjoy Italian, Thai and Chinese. Q: What makes you smile and/or laugh out loud? A Puppies! Q: If you were an animal, which one would you be, and why? A: A bird so I could fly everywhere and see the world. Q: Where can readers find you on the internet? |
